Transformative disabilities and transformative abilities

Glen McMillan motivational coach

My name is Glen McMillan, and at the age of ten, I had a life-altering accident when I fell off my bike. This incident led to four years of hospitalization, isolated from other children and surrounded by medical professionals. Due to my dependence on breathing tubes, I was unable to return home or attend school during this time.

Separated from my peers, I found solace in books, delving into reading and rapidly advancing my comprehension skills. Additionally, my time in the hospital provided an unexpected education in electronics as I assisted in repairing respirators.

I emerged from this experience with a unique education marked by challenges and opportunities. Despite facing life-altering disabilities, I developed profound abilities, including a deep sense of empathy and a desire to help others. These qualities propelled me into advocacy work, not only for the disabled but for all individuals.

Despite missing years of formal schooling, I quickly caught up upon my return to school at age 14, excelling in exams and pursuing qualifications in electronics. My journey led me through various endeavours, including a stint in law studies and the successful establishment of businesses like Auckland Telephone Services and PlayStation Repairs NZ.

As the internet emerged, I recognized its potential and immersed myself in learning about search engine optimization (SEO). With my company, SEO Professionals, I navigated the uncharted waters of Google algorithms, providing exceptional results for our clients and establishing ourselves as leaders in the field.

At 63, I defy limitations with my relentless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Owning and managing multiple websites, I prioritize community engagement and advocacy, particularly for those facing physical disabilities, socio-economic challenges, and digital accessibility barriers.

My commitment to inclusivity extends to my websites, where I champion web accessibility, ensuring that everyone can navigate and engage with online content seamlessly, regardless of their circumstances.
